At our school, we love using Book Creator for so many different things. It has made such an impact within our library, classrooms, and school community. It's exciting to think about all of the ways Book Creator brought learning to life for our students this year, and seeing the beautiful projects they created, shared and celebrated. It truly makes such a difference in our learning and teaching.
As we head into summer, I have been finding lots of ways teacher librarians can use Book Creator in the summer to engage students, and also I have been dreaming up so many ways I want to use Book Creator with our library and program too.
Let me share 6 Book Creator projects that help teacher librarians all year long!
1. I love how teacher librarians use Book Creator as a homepage for their library.
My friends, Becky and Jill, have created the coolest book for their students all about summer reading.
They include all of their reading resources and link them directly into the pages of the book.
The book is linked right in their homepage on Destiny Discover. This is such a great place to link it as students, teachers, and even families find all of their library resources in Destiny, and it is linked from the school website too.
One of my goals this summer is to put all of our resources into a new library book in Book Creator. I am going to add our Symbaloo webmixes, choice boards, digital resources like our Capstone Interactive eBooks and so much more.
I will be able to embed content into my book, which will make it even more interactive.
In the pages of the book, so many things can be added with the Tools, Media, and Apps. I keep thinking how helpful Adobe AI Generator will be as I am working on fun themes our readers will love.
I can't wait to share my ideas with all of you.
2. Book Creator is perfect for creating book lists and recommended reads for your students.
Here is another example from Becky and Jill's library book where they share dozens of recommendations. They included a short summary and noted where the book can be found...Sora, audio, library, etc...
This is a fantastic way to continue readers advisory throughout the summer months. And the book can be updated throughout the summer, which will be exciting for readers.
In the Book Creator Templates, you will also find the one above and others that make it easy for you to use, or to share with your students so they can share
My Book Recommendations.
3. Create a Book Creator Summer Library for your students.
In this post, I share how I did this for our students and how they are using it over the summer.
I really love how we created a Book Creator login QR code for each student so they can get into their account all summer long.
4. You will find tons of resources in Bright Ideas for Summer Learning from Book Creator. This is where I visited for the library I created for our students.
Bright Ideas for Summer Learning is full of resources to share with your students that dive into summer reading, STEM challenges, digital art projects, and more. Let's start with reading.
I love the Reading Journals we can share with our students to encourage and celebrate reading and learning all summer long.
I added a few
Templates including
Reading Reflections, My Book Review, ....and Book I've Read.
There are several other reading templates to pick from that will be fun for students this summer.
5. In addition to the reading journals, I love how we can use Book Creator in the summer as a way to support creativity and spark curiosity.
You will find two amazing resources to use in the Bright Ideas library.
Art Projects to spark creativity this summer with engaging digital art books for grades K-5.
STEM Books to keep young minds engaged with exciting STEM challenges that inspire creativity and critical thinking.
Just think how much your students and families will love these this summer.
These will be great books to use with the Drawing Tools in Book Creator. The kids love how many choices they have, and love using Auto Draw for extra inspiration.
6. Book Creator is filled with special templates and examples that will support us as teacher librarians in a variety of ways this summer, back-to-school time, and all year long.
With Book Creator there are so many different things we can create including newsletters, back-to-school library orientations and family letters, bookmarks, new book posters, book fair flyers, and more.
This summer I plan to create a new template for my library newsletter. I also create a poster every year to share what I will do as the district teacher librarian at Van Meter. I am going to use Book Creator for this too.
I am excited to use Book Creator for these projects. It will be easy to update and share with our kids and families, and handy for me to be able to print and save what I create in Book Creator.
I will keep you up-to-date and share the library newsletter and orientation books soon.
I hope these 6 ideas inspire you to use Book Creator this summer with your readers, and as we think about kicking off another year this fall.
